The owners of this ancestral building located in the Plateau Mont-Royal wanted to renovate one of the kitchens to adapt it to their modern needs, while preserving the soul and charm of the original architecture. The challenge was therefore to design a functional and contemporary space in keeping with the respect and harmony of the entire house, notably by annexing the kitchen to the dining room in a fluid and continuous manner.
Cuisine

Each storage space has been meticulously designed to combine practicality and aesthetics. The custom furniture includes a pantry, numerous clever storage solutions, and a cleverly concealed refrigerator. The generously sized drawers offer enhanced functionality while preserving the understated elegance of the whole.
One of the standout features of this kitchen is its sliding door, which effectively conceals a whole series of storage spaces including the microwave, pantry, and refrigerator. When the door is closed, the space regains a soothing simplicity and gives us the impression that everything can then disappear into the wall. This ingenious solution optimizes space while offering a sleek and resolutely modern aesthetic.
The retractable cooker hood enhances the sophistication of this kitchen, perfectly respecting its clean lines. But it is the tapware and the glass partition that stand out as the true centerpieces of the layout, bringing a touch of industrial refinement to the whole that perfectly complements the spirit of the space.
Materials and lighting

The choice of materials was essential in defining the atmosphere and appearance of this mixed-style kitchen. The matte surfaces, used for the countertops and cabinets, provide a soft texture and a subtle contrast with the stainless steel central island, which is the true centerpiece of the kitchen.
The maple countertop, with its natural warmth, balances the perceived coldness of the metal and softens the space as a whole. This mix of materials creates a warm ambiance while affirming the sleek and functional identity of the kitchen.
Lighting, a true asset of the project, was designed to sublimate every detail of the space. The shadows cast on the wall add a dynamic touch, while the white bricks are magnified, adding character and warmth to the interplay of light that not only accentuates the contrasts and enriches the atmosphere of the kitchen.
This project, carried out with care and meticulousness, was completed within a 12-week timeframe, from the development of the plans to the finalization of the kitchen, thus combining efficiency and quality in design and execution.
